Finn Juhl (1912 - 1989) NV45 chair in solid teak. This groundbreaking sculptural chair, unveiled at the 1945 Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild exhibition, marked a major shift in paradigm from what had previously been considered inconceivable. With the 45 chair, Juhl's groundbreaking design liberated the backrest and seat from the frame, giving the chair an expressive, floating appearance. Asked a decade later to talk about the 45 chair, Juhl mentioned that the concavity on the underside of the armrests was necessary to maximise the frame's visual lightness and also for tactile pleasure. The 45 chair established Finn Juhl's status as an icon and extraordinary furniture designer. Stamped and produced by Niels Vodder.
