Travel Diaries: Glyptotek Museum, Copenhagen

The Glyptotek is a museum founded by brewing magnate, Carl Jacobsen (1842-1914), who committed his life to Copenhagen and its decoration. Above all, he was a passionate art collector and a patron of the arts. He wanted to enrich his people with art of international stature and also believed that works of art should speak directly to the individual visitor. For this reason, he chose to call his collection the Glyptotek which means a repository for sculpture.
